Day 1 of Media Deprivation
My first say of the Media Deprivation project went pretty well. I was able to stay far from all the media that goes on in my life on a day to day basis. When i woke up i did use my cell phone to make some call and send some text messages, but after that I wasn't home until midnight. i did get to listen to some music because I was with my boyfriend the whole day, so having to use my cell phone to talk to him throughout the day wasn't a problem. Also, I went to see some movies with my friends, so I was able to use some media in my day by being more social and getting a chance to see and hang out with my friends. During the day i would use my IPod to check my e-mails and my grades from school, but then i would go search some unnecessary things like clothes, just to do something while I was waiting for my boyfriend. In addition, I would start to play a game, until I remembered that I wasn't allowed to. I also use my IPod to check if i had any notifications or messages from Facebook. I have tired to stop using media throughout my day, however i am accoustomed to watch television while I do homework ot surfing the web to waste some time. But it has been really hard because even though I have lots of things to do during my day I can't stop from using mass media, it is just something I have to do every day from the time I wake up to when I go to bed. I do believe that this media deprivation project has many advantages because it makes me be a lot more social and not be in my house surrounded with mass media.
