Well, mass media deprivation was hard but not too hard. I made it the entire day without playing one game, listening to music, or turning on my television once. In the very beginning I was thinking that this is not so bad I just read some comics and drew some pictures. :] Everything I wanted to take care of I actually did. I took care of some of my chores I’ve been putting off for some time. I cleaned out my truck and room. I even did some chores without being asked too. As the day went on though, it started to become harder and harder for me. The more I didn’t get to text my friends just to see what they’re up too, the more distant I felt from them. Also the hardest part of it all of course was not being able to listen to music. I think there should be a part of the day where I will turn off all forms of mass media but it isn’t the best way to live my life all the time.
I realized media deprivation can be a good thing. I do get more things accomplished throughout my day but I also had many parts during my day that I literally did nothing as I try to think of what to do. I wanted to go out and hang out with a few friends but I had no way to contact them. Then I had the great idea to write them a letter. :] So they’ll get that next week probably. As far as Sunday goes though I pretty much gave up on not checking social networking sites. I immediately hopped on my facebook once I got on my computer even though I only was suppose to get on to post this blog. Oh well I will post my second blog tomorrow on how much I break the rules and how much of a difference it makes.
Oh by the way here's the pic I drew.

ReplyDeleteHey, that looks like the Violator from the Spawn comics. Sorry, I'm a comic geek and I couldn't help but point that out.
ReplyDeleteHa, I like that you actually wrote out a letter and sent it to your friends. I can't think of a much better way to use a stamp!
Actually it is the Violator from the Spawn comics. I am a BIG comic geek as well, and Spawn so happens to be my favorite comic.
